THE Vauxhall Zafira Tourer is a road-going spaceship. The seven-seater has added a bit of quality and a shed-load of room to the original Zafira mix and features a modern design and comfortable cabin.

The interior has Vauxhall's Flex7 seating system which in common with the original Zafira has a third row of seats that can be folded down flush with the floor.

There the similarities end though as Vauxhall's engineers have completely redesigned the second row.

No longer a bench, it now comprises three individual seats that can slide forwards or backwards independently of each other. They can also be folded flat, creating an even load floor. The backs of the three seats can also be reclined in four different positions and folded down in one simple movement without having to remove seats or headrests.

The lounge seating system offers second-row passengers limousine-type luxury while an easy-to-operate folding and rotating mechanism transforms the back of an unused middle seat into comfortable armrests.

There are more than 30 cubby holes in the cabin while the panoramic windscreen and sunroof ensure the interior gets plenty of light and feels airy.

Up front both driver and passenger are cossetted with large side windows and side rear-view mirrors mounted on the doors giving the driver good visibility.

The Zafira Tourer's front seats are fitted with active head restraints and are fully adjustable to ensure a comfortable position can be attained by all shapes and sizes.

An optional ergonomic driver's seat is available which benefits from a tilt- adjustable seat cushion, adjustable lumbar support and extendable seat cushion.

The Zafira Tourer also has a FlexRail centre console with an upper rail offering an armrest that opens into two storage compartments while underneath another compartment has two cup holders. …
