THE world-famous cityscape of NewcastleGateshead, recognised all over the globe by its iconic seven bridges, hosts a free, family-friendly festival on Saturday and Sunday.

It celebrates riverside icons and the biggest sporting event in the world - the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Coinciding with the men's Olympic Football quarter-finals on Saturday, events at NewcastleGateshead Bridges Festival allow people to actively get involved and celebrate the area's sport, heritage, architecture and the world-famous River Tyne.

The Bridges Festival is sponsored once again by the Port of Tyne, as part its commitment to business, arts and communities.

Events throughout the two-day festival include; The Print Run, which invites people to create a print design while they run, skip, dance, hop or leap into the air. Enter the world of Free Running and Parkour with The Urban Games. Watch in awe as performers scale buildings and vault walls as local rappers and MCs add to the atmosphere. …
