ON June 27 we had our combined Coutts Crossing and Nymboida Athletics carnival. It was a very successful day for some students and a tiring day for others. The age champions were Andrew Quirk, Lachlan Wilcox and Jess Fuller (minor), Hamish Orchard and Leah Kellerman-Davies (junior), Kaylum Roberts and Shiann Broderick (11yrs) and Harley Guinn and Murren Woods (senior). Murren won the Coutts Crossing Gift and was also named the overall champion. Rhianna won the Encouragement Award and the winning house was Goolang.

The field events were high jump, long jump and shot put. The high jump record was broken by a fantastic jump from Murren. The Discus event was held on a different day because it is too dangerous to run on the carnival day. Three of our discus throwers have progressed to compete at the Mid North Coast zone carnival. We wish Murren, Rhianna and Hamish the best of luck.

The track events were the 800 metres, 200 metres and the 100 metres. …
