TEAM GB chief Andy Hunt today hailed Britain as one of the world's sporting superpowers and is convinced our Olympians will build on their amazing success at the Rio Games in 2016.

Britain banked 29 golds, 17 silver and 19 bronze from London 2012 to finish third in the medal table behind the United States and China.

Their haul of 65 medals is 18 better than the tally in Beijing and is Britain's highest total since 1908, when the Games was also in London. Huge patri-otic crowds have spurred Team GB on to success and although the squad will not enjoy home advantage in Brazil, Andy Hunt is sure they will still be a force to be reckoned with.

Team GB's chef de mission said: "We've unquestionably exceeded our expectations. This is our greatest performance of our greatest team at the greatest Olympics ever. I have absolutely no doubt we will carry that torch as one of the greatest sporting nations to Rio. But there is still opportunity to improve. …
