WHILE most people spend the chilly winter mornings curled up in bed, a small group of dedicated swimmers have been preparing for the official start of the swimming season.

They have taken advantage of the wonderful warmth of WIRAC all winter.

Warwick Swimming Club member Wayne Schnitzerling has been leading the swimming sessions.

C[pounds sterling]Sure, at times it is hard to crawl out of bed in sub-zero temperatures,C[yen] he said.

C[pounds sterling]What makes jumping out of bed a lot easier is knowing that there will be a smile on one of your team mates faces on arrival at the pool.C[yen]

The group, which meets at WIRAC at 5.30am, has a broad range of experience in and out of the water.

Mr Schnitzerling said it was not just about swimming laps.

C[pounds sterling]Swimming and communicating with people of all ages are both life skills,C[yen] he said.

C[pounds sterling]There is nothing more rewarding than seeing someone listen and improve whether it's in the water or in real life. …
