RUGBY UNION: His club has never won an A-grade rugby union premiership on the Coast in its 30-year history but Caboolture centre Tom Aldridge reckons his side is not feeling any pressure after booking a berth in this year's decider.

The Snakes escaped to a 17-0 lead before beating Caloundra 26-17 in the Wartung Premiership major semi-final at Caloundra yesterday to earn a tilt at the title.

C[pounds sterling]It's pretty exciting. We've been working hard all year, so it's great to make it into the big one,C[yen] Aldridge said.

C[pounds sterling]I don't think there's any pressure (to win it). There wasn't that expectation from anyone on the Coast (at the start of the season) and there still isn't.

C[pounds sterling]Everyone's going to doubt us, we know that, but we have self-belief amongst us at the club and we're certainly confident we can do it.C[yen]

Caboolture has experienced only limited success on the Sunshine Coast and in the Brisbane Two competition since its inception in 1982, but is poised to bag its biggest prize yet after unsettling the minor premier at Lighthouse Park yesterday.

Aldridge scored every one of the visitors' points in the two-tries apiece encounter. He crossed twice and bagged a penalty to help the high-tempo Snakes to a 17-0 lead within half an hour, and it could have been more before the half-time break had he not missed two penalty attempts. …
