The WVAA exhibition will run between 10-6pm from tomorrow to Saturday, with an official opening and WVAA winner announcement on Friday from 6.30pm. Tickets to the WVAA exhibition opening are available from Trinity Catholic College in Lismore, 02 6627 6600. No tickets for sale at the door on opening night.

THE very first Wilson Visual Arts Award (WVAA) will kick off this week with an exhibition of finalists at the Trinity Catholic College in Lismore.

The non-acquisitive art prize and exhibition will showcase some of the best artists both locally and from around Australia, who will all be vying for the $10,000 first prize purse.

WVAA chairperson Louise Young said the awards had received 324 entrants, with 83 selected as finalists for the exhibition.

aThere are 35 local artists and nearly 50 from right around Australia [in the final],a Ms Young said.

According to Ms Young the art awards would go some way to recognising Lismore as an arts hub and giving the region the akudosa it deserved. …
