Detectives Question 10 Men over Death at Party near V Festival

TEN men were being questioned on suspicion of murder today after a 39-year-old man was found dead near the site of the V Festival in Essex.

Detectives believe a private party was being held at the house opposite Hylands Park in Chelmsford at the time of the man's death. The victim, who has not been named but is from nearby Rayleigh, was found in the rear garden of the property just after midnight yesterday.

A post-mortem examination revealed he died of head injuries. Essex Police are appealing for anyone who was at the house, off the A414 London Road, to contact them. The 10 men, aged between 23 and 35 and all from Essex, were in police custody today. Relatives of the victim have been informed.

Chief superintendent Glenn Caton said: "We do not believe there is a direct connection with the V Festival."

Police have also released the name of a 22-year-old man who died at the festival's other site in Staffordshire over the weekend. …
