[bar] THERE are viable alternative routes to university that enable students to gain a degree without the same degree of debt. As an independent college of higher education, EThames Graduate School places emphasis on providing quality education at affordable fees.

UK and EU students don't need to pay the full fees in advance at EThames, which offers a range of qualifications including HND and degree programmes in subjects such as business, computing, hospitality management and health and social care. Instead, they can pay in instalments over the length of the course on a pay-as-you-learn basis.

Fees are competitive, and students can also complete their studies more quickly -- in as little as two years. For example, by spending 15 months intensively studying for an HND and then one academic year at university, you can graduate with fees from just [pounds sterling]11,000 to [pounds sterling]15,000, compared with up to [pounds sterling]27,000 from some universities. The school is very flexible and offers modular study, where breaks for one or more terms can be negotiated as well as a choice of studying full or part time.

EThames students are provided with the knowledge and skills required to ensure either a smooth transition to the workplace, or to transfer to a university course for the final year of their degree. Its three UK university partners are the University of Bradford, University of Greenwich and University of Sunderland and it is also a UKBA Highly Trusted Sponsor, an important distinction for international students. The EThames campus in Redbridge is situated close to Gants Hill Tube station on the Central Line, making it easily accessible from anywhere in London or Essex. The college has undergone an expansion and development programme in the past year. EThames also partnered with the University of Sunderland to launch the London campus in April, investing more than [pounds sterling]4 million in new infrastructure, facilities and cutting-edge technology to support learning.

Perhaps you have failed to make the grades you expected -- or are considering university having already spent time in the workplace. Rather than the strict requirement for three good A levels set by many universities, EThames takes experience and many other qualifications into account as part of its admissions process. …
