Hello to summer Hello August still in summer time As fruit, flowers and veg rise to prime After rain, rain, rain every rivers full But that light in the skies never dull Wildlife confused at nature's ways Cold at night, rain then long sunny days Lakes are full up to the brim Nature knows best, is this a sin? As winged doves, pigeons sing in sadden tone Crows and magpies announce "hi - you're not alone" Song birds, thrush, starlings, finches, many more That friendly robin sings not far from door This mystery planet we all inhabit Still no sign of our friend the rabbit Fox still covers his beaten tracking line Even if weather is rain, rain or fine Flowers soon at their very best Sunflowers serving land below east to west August now in hot summer sun And if all gardens work - hard but fun Enjoy fruit, vet and flowers on display But be thankful for natures secret way At dawn chorus screams summers still here Just magic to the listening ear. …
