CENTRAL Queensland is the heartland of rugby league.

That was the message from CQ NRL bid chief executive Denis Keeffe and chairman Geoff Murphy in their presentation to the Gladstone public as part of the regional roadshow.

And the argument was compelling.

Murphy made some big calls about beating the other bids to the punch.
