SUMMER looks like it is well on the way, with thunderstorms on Sunday and yesterday and warm temperatures during the day a harbinger of what is in store for the district.

With the official advent of spring on Saturday forecasters are predicting a warm season over the next three months.

Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Peter Otto said in the short term today and tomorrow looked like being fine and warm, with temperatures in the mid 20s.

But things are due to change by the weekend, with Mr Otto saying there could be more thunderstorms and some showers on Friday.

He said the average temperature for Bundaberg at this time of year was 23.5 degrees, but the past couple of days had been above that.

The mercury got up to a balmy 25 degrees on Sunday and 24 degrees yesterday.

But Mr Otto said there would be a cooler change on Friday and Saturday.

He said people needed to brace for warmer temperatures as we got deeper into spring. …
