PERFECT weather, a new formula and sheer star wattage combined to produce a averya profitable and record-breaking 2012 Optus Gympie Music Muster at the weekend.

In a complete turnaround from the $800,000-plus loss of 2011, this year's event will be remembered as one of the best a if not the best.

Organisers were celebrating their success yesterday, some dubbing it the Rebuild Muster, others calling it the best ever and others the best in its recent history.

Whatever the tag, there was no doubting the Kenny Rogers' gamble had paid off on Sunday night, when The Hill became a seething mass of humanity, packed as it had not been before.

aWe are expecting a very big profit,a said Gympie Muster board chairman Glen Smith.

aAnd if you thought (Kenny) was good, wait until you see what we are planning for next year,a he said.
