BUNDABERG Spirit assistant coach Peter Martin has impressed the importance of winning this weekend's match against Whitsunday Miners on his troops.

Spirit clashes with the northern heavyweights in a tough match in Mackay this afternoon.

Martin said it was a must win for his team if it was to climb up the Queensland State League ladder and achieve its goal of finishing in fifth place.

Spirit will be without the services of centre-back Corey Haack in the encounter.
