ON Thursday June 22 workers from the Guide Dog Association of Australia and people with vision impairment, visited our school to explain to us what guide dogs are all about.

First, they explained that the Guide Dog Association is not only all about guide dogs. They help people with vision impairment with everyday life. Workers will visit and help set up houses to make life easier with the use of everyday objects such as setting a table. They also help people to learn how to move around with limited assistance.

One of the main ways in which they help people to move about is with the use of a walking cane. These canes come in different shapes, sizes and colours, but the most common ones are white with a ball at the end. All of these canes can be identified because they have a red patch at the bottom to help others know that the person has vision impairment. …
