RE the letter 'A name for the pier' (30.8.12), about the original 500 list, all of them couldn't be published as there were some unfit for publication.

The George Dunning/Sheelagh Clarke Folly was not on the list.

Of course it would be totally unfair to give the credit to any individual politician or group of politicians.

The credit for the Vertical Pier name and the concept of such a structure goes to the young architects.
