MR. and Mrs. Frederick Charles Payne were married in St. Matthew's Church of England, South Grafton. Mrs. Payne was formerly Miss Margaret Lynn Beverley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. Beverley, Pound Street. Mr. and Mrs. L. Payne, of Heber Street, South Grafton, are groom's parents. Bridesmaid was Miss Marcelle Zuber. Flower girl Miss Pauline Cook. Mr. Lance Forster was best man.

THE death took place at Coffs Harbour of a highly respected resident of long-standing, Mrs. Lydia Hales. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Shelton and was born at Dungog. Two sons and two daughters survive her; one daughter is Mrs. Alf Parbery, of Grafton.

THE death has occurred of Mrs. Emma Louisa Baker. She spent most of her life dairy farming in the Corindi district until her husband's ill health forced their retirement. They went to reside in Westlawn. One son, Harold John, predeceased her 18 years ago. She is survived by three daughters and four sons.
