Public Servant Ipswich Move to Cost $36.2M; Business Community Expects Big Things from New Influx

RELOCATING Queensland Government public servants to Icon Ipswich from Brisbane will cost taxpayers $1.2 million, it was revealed yesterday.

The cost comes on top of the budget allocation reported in yesterday's QT of $14.3 million to fit out the building next year, with a further $20.5 million to be spent the year after.

A third of the public servants will be relocated from other places in Ipswich.

A spokesman for the Department of Housing and Public Works said $36 million had been allocated for the office fit-out and relocation of government functions.

A Public Service Commission spokesman said relocation allowances would be judged case by case.
