VOLUNTEERS in Mackay are an invaluable group of people who work tirelessly to help organisations in their community.

Charmaine Leggatt decided she wanted to give back to her town at the age of 21. She's juggling three volunteer positions Co at the MECC, Sporting Wheelies and Mackay Tourism Co Co while working at Mackay West Primary School.

C[pounds sterling]I do my paid job through the day and I volunteer at night and on weekends,C[yen] Ms Leggatt said.

C[pounds sterling]I have to fit in family, gardening, work and volunteering. But I have a knack for time management. At the MECC I perform ushering duties like taking tickets and taking people to their seats.C[yen]

She refers to herself as a serial volunteer.

C[pounds sterling]Where I can help I do,C[yen] Ms Leggatt said. C[pounds sterling]Then I help out with extra curricular activities at the school where I work.C[yen]

Ms Leggatt said she enjoyed showing off her town to tourists at Mackay Tourism. …
