ROUND-the-clock care for their disabled son Jack means the Baker family haven't had a holiday for years. Now their wish to spend some desperately-needed quality time together will come true thanks to a Newcastle bar manager's heart of gold.

Sporty Sam Dennis, from High Heaton, will take part in the Great North Run tomorrow to raise money to send the Baker family to Disneyland Paris.

Meeting Jack for the first time, Sam, 27, said he was humbled to run for the brave youngster.

He said: "It was brilliant to meet him and it will give me that extra push in the race.

"I can't begin to imagine the stress it must put on the family at times so I'm happy to try and do my bit to help."

Joanne and Graeme Baker, of Kenton, Newcastle, said finding a holiday suitable for Jack, who has cerebral palsy and epilepsy, and his sister Amy, 14, had been tough.

Earlier this year they teamed up with charity Starlight who grant the wishes of seriously ill children, and together they decided on Disneyland would make the perfect adventure. …
