CRICKET was on the cards on Saturday and Sunday with the Industries of Gladstone Twenty20 Cricket Challenge and the weather gods got the message, providing a perfect weekend down at Boyne oval.

Lee Carseldine, Geoff Foley, Ken Healy, Graeme Hick, Michael Kasprowicz, Jimmy Maher, Scott Prestwidge and Chris Simpson were the eight Queensland Rail Bulls Masters in attendance.

They entered the fray among locals as they played with one of eight teams over the weekend.

The event was a fun affair with bash for cash signs, live music and family friendly activities, including face painting and a bouncing castle.

Michael Kasprowicz said that an event like the Twenty20 challenge was a great way to start the cricket season. C[pounds sterling]It's the perfect combination of social cricket with a little bit of pride and ego mixed in,C[yen] he said.

Gladstone's industrial heavyweights provided not only talent but monetary support for The McGrath Foundation with around $4000 raised plus funds towards the development of regional cricket. …
