A MOTHER of seven, who is studying full-time to be a lawyer, found herself in Maroochydore Magistrates Court yesterday for driving without a licence after what she joked was a rotten streak of bad luck.

Tracey Anne Schmidt, of Caboolture, was visiting Maroochydore last month with her 18-year-old stepdaughter, who wanted to inspect a car for sale.

Her stepdaughter's friend had initially planned to drive her to the Coast, but pulled out at the last moment, so Ms Schmidt agreed to help out: she just forgot she was still unlicensed.

aI got straight in the car. I didn't think,a Ms Schmidt said with a smile outside court.

aI should have known better because I have such rotten luck. You know those 100-ticket raffles? I could buy 99 and still not win.a

Ms Schmidt said she was initially unlucky in 2006 when she was caught driving an unregistered vehicle. That was the first time she had driven it.

The bad luck was repeated this time around, when she was caught without a licence. …
