Huge Season Ahead; Twenty20 Games to Start Year with Bang

A HUGE season of cricket gets under way with the non-stop action of Twenty20 games for the first weekend of fixtures.

Rugby league, Aussie rules and football have all just finished and the players have barely had a chance to get their timing with the bat right and the line and length with the ball on target for one of the toughest forms of the game.

The four Division 1 teams take each other on in T20 games with all matches to be held at Kendalls Flat because the pitches at Salter Oval have not been able to be ready in time for the season start.

Because of the staggered start to the season the grand final, between the two top teams in Division 1, will be played as a curtain raiser to the final of the Australian Country Championships in the second week of January next year.

With the start of the local season there will be games in the Queensland Bulls Masters Series next weekend and with six Bundaberg players in the Wide Bay squad the fast-paced start to the season will be appreciated. …
