BOLSTERING sales for Suzuki was as easy as ABC. Or in the case of its athletic Swift Sport, as simple as CVT.

Released as the performance derivative of the Japanese car maker's popular hatch, the Swift Sport had previously only been available with a manual transmission.

While a stick-shift may be the choice of boy-racers and keen drivers, it's not the most popular weapon of choice a especially for women.

Now the automatic continuously variable transmission has arrived to do all the hard work for drivers who have no desire to swap cogs.

It comes at a $2000 price premium over the manual version, but still retails for a value-packed $25,990.

Comfort

Bucket cloth seats with aSporta logos provide brilliant support around your thighs and upper body. They hug you into place and set the tone for its athletic intentions.

The driver has telescopic steering wheel adjustment and a good view of the road. Instruments are well designed and simple to read, with the stereo and climate controlled air-con within easy reach.

During darkness the centre console buttons have red back lighting while the main driver gauges are crisp white on black.

Using the various menus and features just requires intuition, although the Bluetooth connectivity can be a challenge to initially set-up.

The Swift has excellent space front and back. Good head room is available for all, while leg room is impressive even in the back.

On the road

Driving enjoyment was the hallmark of the first Swift Sport and the second derivative builds on the original's success.
