Lachlan Surprised to Win; Mackay Mechanical Engineering Apprentice Is Best in the State

LACHLAN Brand has been named School-based Apprentice of the Year at the Queensland Training Awards.

A regional finalist for Central Queensland, Lachlan goes on to represent Queensland at the Australian Training Awards in November.

Run by the Department of Education, Training and Employment, the Queensland Training Awards recognised the outstanding achievements of individuals and organisations within the vocational education and training sector at an awards night in Brisbane.

Lachlan is currently completing a school-based mechanical engineering apprenticeship at the Mackay Engineering College and doing practical training at Hastings Deering Mackay.

Minister for Education, Training and Employment John-Paul Langbroek congratulated 11 individuals and organisations who were among 57 State finalists.

Lachlan said he was really surprised and excited when he received the award.
