NOT since 1957 has New South Wales known the scourge of severe and sometimes uncontrollable bushfire. Chairman of the Bushfire Committee points out, each succeeding mild season brings us closer to the inevitable bad one. He warns that the next bad season for New South Wales is imminent. Outstanding lesson from the bushfires which swept through Victoria's Dandenong Ranges and Christmas Hills areas with such disastrous consequences last January was that no planning, preparation or training could be too thorough. Not much time is left to us and the weather grows warmer, day by day. (Editorial)
