THE new crane at Rockhampton Hospital has a name fit for the king of the Greek gods.

The 56m high crane was crowned Zeus at the official naming ceremony on Saturday.

Courtney Hooper, 14, came up with the winning name after taking out first place in a colouring competition.

She said she chose the name because Zeus was the god of the sky in Greek mythology.

Zeus is on-site at the hospital to help build the new seven-storey building that will house Central Queensland Regional Integrated Cancer Care Services.

Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service chief executive Maree Geraghty said Zeus was a magnificent name for the crane.

She said Courtney's colouring skills and creativity made her the worthy winner of an iPad, provided by managing contractor Hansen Yuncken.

Two runners-up won movie passes and all winners received exclusive private tours of the construction site and enjoyed a close-up look at Zeus in action. …
