St Peter's Too Good for Rest at Carnival

TOUCH FOOTBALL: Saint Peter's Primary School reigned supreme at the annual Tony Novak Touch Football Carnival, winning the tournament for the first time.

The carnival was held in Rockhampton during the last week of term three, attracting about 120 players and 10 teams from Rockhampton regional Catholic primary schools, as well as defending champion St John the Baptist Catholic Primary School, of Gladstone.

Novak taught in Catholic schools in the west and in Rockhampton and was a passionate sportsman.

He died on the eve of the 2003 Catholic Schools Touch Challenge and in his honour the Tony Novak Memorial Touch Football Carnival was created.

Carnival co-ordinator and St Mary's Catholic Primary principal Mike Kelso said the standard of play had improved every year the event had been held.
