SUNSHINE Coast rail advocate Jeff Addison says the resumption of rail duplication works from Beerburrum to Nambour should be a matter of high priority.

He has blasted the LNP for following the Labor Party schedule for delivering the works.

Transport and Main Roads Minister Scott Emerson last week rejected a request to revise the timetable set for the future duplication works despite six petitions in 19 months.

Three of those were from Glass House Mountains MP Andrew Powell during his time in the Opposition.

aThis is an issue that will not go away quietly,a Mr Addison said.

aPublic transport must not become the infrastructure train wreck of the 21st century.

aThe Sunshine Coast does not intend to allow this continuing rejection and delay of vital infrastructure, while seeing a tower built for politicians in the Brisbane CBD.a

Mr Addison, also the Sunshine Coast spokesman for RAIL Back On Track, said Mr Powell had pushed for the upgrade to come sooner, before the 2012 state election. …
