RUGBY: Kurtley Beale has 29 Tests under his belt, but will play his first as the Wallabies' key playmaker against South Africa at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria on Sunday morning.

With Quade Cooper (knee) sidelined, Berrick Barnes will slot in at fullback, but he will also share the five-eighth duties with Beale.

Beale is not completely foreign to the No.10 position, having played there for the Australian Schoolboys, St Josephs (Sydney) first XV and also at the Waratahs.

He moved to fullback in 2009, the year he made his Test debut.

Wallabies coach Robbie Deans threw his support behind Beale making his move to the No.10 jumper.

aThe number might be new, but his role within the game won't be,a Deans said.

aKurtley stepped up with his involvements (against South Africa) on the Gold Coast, making a difference when he was on the field.
