STAFF at the Community Housing and Information Centre were preparing to pack up their desks, but emergency funding from the Federal Government has allowed the doors of the centre to remain open.

The centre, which provides tenancy advice for people living in rental accommodation, was one of the services that received the chop in State Government funding cuts.

Community Housing and Information Centre Inc president Andrea Pozza said they had campaigned hard to keep the essential service running.

The Federal Government has now agreed to deliver $3.3 million in emergency funding for the Queensland Tenant Advice and Advocacy Service which provides advice to tenants across Queensland.
