LIVING A LONG LIFE

Two professors, Leslie R. Martin and Howard S. Friedman, studied the lives of 1500 people over eight decades. Their work, published as The Longevity Project, found the healthiest people lived meaningful, committed lives, worked hard, nurtured close relationships, and were dedicated to things and people beyond themselves.

Mrs Guy, who is due to celebrate her 106th birthday on November 9, is believed to be the Sunshine Coast's oldest resident.

A check of aged-care facilities on the Sunshine Coast yesterday revealed a 103-year-old and two 102-year-olds.

They all still have a way to go to catch up to Georgia's Antisa Khvichava, who died last month at the claimed age of 132.

Mrs Guy's daughter, Heather Wade, said her mother had always been coy about her age until recent years.
