BUNDABERG Squash Club has had to call its trophy supplier this year and tell them to cancel the usual order of a winner's cup with Jim Mobbs written on it.

Mobbs has been one of the most dominant players in the past 30 years, winning all but about six closed championships since the 1980s, but he has succumbed to injury to leave the door open for John Loeskow to claim back-to-back titles.

Not only has Loeskow missed playing Mobbs, but one of the only players to defeat the champion in the past will also be absent from the tournament.

Past champion Bruce Loeskow was hurt in a fixture game against John and he will miss the tournament as well.

Other news from that particular match is Bruce will need to buy a new racquet before he steps on to the court again.

Even without Mobbs and Bruce Loeskow playing, John will not have it all his own way, with two other players showing good form in the lead-up to the event. …
