YOU don't need to be a superhero to become a full-time carer, as Golden Beach resident Mel Clarke knows all too well.

It's all about carers this week as Carers Queensland takes time to honour those in the community who have selflessly devoted their life to helping look after others.

The Caloundra Power Boat Club was filled with carers yesterday when three very special nominees won regional awards.

Gateway Care Caloundra won the award for Great Service Provider, an award given to a not for profit organisation which assists carers and their patrons.

Mel Clarke nominated the business and in a touching speech spoke about how much the organisation had helped her and her friend, Doug Manning.

aGateway Care offers food services to those who are on a lower income, whether it be health care, pensioners or unemployment,a Mel said.

aI was very apprehensive on going to this service but they are beautiful people who just want to help out those in need. …
