Double's No Trouble for Twin Stars of the Show

IT CAN be tough when your fiercest rival at auditions is your identical twin. But Danielle and Nicole Bird have put that problem behind them for a new show that depends on them looking... well, like twins.

The sisters, 24, are to star in The Prince and the Pauper in which poverty-stricken Tom Canty has a chance meeting with the heir to the throne, Prince Edward, in Tudor London and no one can tell them apart. Confusion ensues.

Danielle said it was the ideal show: "It's about mixed identities, which resonates with us."

Film director Mike Leigh was the first to use the twins together professionally in his short film for the Olympics this year, called Running Jump. He remembered seeing the sisters from South Wales when they were drama students at Mountview Academy in Wood Green and tracked them down two years later.
