Eager Performers Take Stage in Eisteddfod; Adjudicatoroffers Somesound Hints

YOUNG aspiring Marcel Marceaus took centre stage yesterday, as the body movement and silent expression of mime was showcased at the Macrossan and Amiet Solicitors 66th Annual Mackay Eisteddfod at the Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre.

As the eisteddfod enters its final days, Year 2 students Jessie Borg, Cooper Ramsay and Liam Shields were among the performers showing off their miming ability.

Excited to perform in front of family and friends, Cooper said he liked miming because C[pounds sterling]you don't have to worry about speaking clearly or stuffing up your wordsC[yen].

Jessie Borg said she enjoyed the acting side of mime and Liam Shields said miming was fun and he liked the challenge of trying to stay quiet and still at times.

As well as again praising the talent and discipline in Mackay, eisteddfod, adjudicator Tracy-Lee McKinney said miming was not just about staying quiet and hand movements. …
