THERE is more than just music at next month's Golden Days Festival at Coolum.

The Surfrider Foundation is offering surfers a chance to be a part of a Guinness world record attempt for the most riders on the same wave.

The world record is held by Earthwave in South Africa, which had 110 surfers on the one wave in 2009.

Coolum's first attempt will be made at 11.30am on Sunday, November 18, the final day of the Golden Days Festival.

The Surfrider Eco Challenge also will offer the opportunity to compete on wooden, finless boards in a competition with a green tinge.

Surfers will be awarded points on the heart they put into their surfing, not on technical expertise.

Surfrider Foundation branch president Sally Atkinson said the astoke festa was an opportunity to celebrate coastal communities, as well as bringing wooden surfboards out for everyone, irrelevant of age or experience, to enjoy.

aIt's not only good for the environment by promoting a more eco-friendly material, but it's about people from all walks of life coming together,a Ms Atkinson said. …
