Graves Talks about His Mixed Year; MTB Rider Back in Town

JARED Graves has put his 2012 down as a learning curve after mixed results competing in some of the world's best downhill mountain bike events.

The Toowoomba rider bypassed competing in his second Olympic Games in BMX this year in favour of focusing on downhill MTB success.

Now back home ahead of his wedding next month at Preston, Graves suggested that move could be considered either a great one after particular events or not so much after others on the UCI MTB downhill circuit.

Graves is ranked 52nd on the UCI downhill rankings.

aIt was a little hit and miss,a Graves said after sharing some of his riding knowledge with enthusiasts at the Toowoomba MTB Club's Spring Tune Up day at Withcott.

aSome races went really well and then a few just went terrible. There was kind of almost no middle ground for me this year.

aI either got it right or didn't get it right at all. It was part of the learning process again. …
