The Lake Exhibition Park The wildlife! Eat at my feet - ever hungry for more.

Getting closer every day! Mr Grey Heron not far away. This morning I find him by the broad walk.

I give a low shriek or two! Mimicking his call.

He looks my way! Then takes a short flight.

He lands on a boardwalk hand rail! Close by My camera not with me- I am sorry to say Mr Heron, quite detached stands alone. I again mimic his call!

His shoulders back - head forward - he prepares for flight I feel the breeze from his wings as they expand. Before me now! 'The photograph I have longed for.' If I had reached out - his silken feathers I would feel.

What a wonderful photograph - that would have been.

The many feathers, beneath his wings! Breathtaking. The colour - the alignment? Let them stay with me.

I shall sharpen my pencils when I get home. …
