For more pictures and a video log on to www.gazettelive.co.uk A TERRIFYING trek around the grounds of a deserted farmland was endured by hundreds of brave souls.

The scary stroll, titled the Spooky Halloween Walk, was held at Newham Grange Country Farm for the third time and sold out its 200 tickets.

Families were taken on walks led by the farm's duty officer Richard Buckley and Paul Tidy - once on a Teesside Come Dine With Me episode - who both got into character and told frightening folk tales of grisly murders and the arrival of a plague.

Parents and youngsters were then given a fright as ghouls jumped out on them during the walk.

But afterwards the kids enjoyed craft sessions at the Coulby Newham farm in Middlesbrough and parents could settle their nerves with a cup of tea.

Among those who took part were Nicky Wilkinson, 32, a studio manager for an animation company, her husband Steven, 31, a mechanical engineer, and their two-year-old daughter Emily, as well as Nicky's sister Joanne Hawthorne, 35, a teacher, and her daughter Gemma, eight, and son Alex, five. …
