THE Chatton Chasers - made up of Gordon Swain (Dipton), Jim Tuck, (Ashington) and Rob Frame (Newcastle) - won the Grey's National Bank Fly Fishing Championships.

And with the exception of Frame - but with Trevor Wadds from Craster - they followed up that success at the weekend.

The team won through the first heat of the Fritz and Flies Festive Competition at Chatton Trout Fishery and now go on to the final.

The heat of the Fritz and Flies competition at Aldin Grange Lakes was won by Simon Robinson from Whickham on a day when anglers struggled in the freezing conditions.

The Big Fish Week at Naworth got off to a good start with 200 fish caught in the first two days.

This included 22 double-figure trout to 20lb.

The hard frost on Sunday night slowed sport and the angling pressure also put many fish down. …
