Jay Joins Revival; Storm U20 Hooker to Help Bolster Sea Eagles

RUGBY LEAGUE: He has served as an apprentice to Cameron Smith and now Jay Lobwein will help lead the Sunshine Coast Sea Eagles' revival next year.

The 20-year-old No.9 was one of a number of new faces at Stockland Park last night as the Sea Eagles squad assembled for their first training session of the 2013 pre-season.

Lobwein was a member of the Melbourne Storm Under-20s side for the last three years before linking with the Coast for next year's Intrust Super Cup.

While the Sea Eagles, which finished second last this year, have lost four of their most senior players, there was still plenty of cause for optimism within the group.

The side has lost captain and halfback Todd Murphy, fullback Hughie Stanley and starting forwards Jaz Nahu-Main and Alex Simpson, however they say they have recruited well enough to cover their losses.

Joining Lobwein at the Sea Eagles are former Norths Devils forwards Ryan Hansen Co the 2012 FOGS Cup Player of the Year Co and Jacob Samoa Co a former Broncos under-20s player. …
