Nolan Eyes First Roma Cup

TOOWOOMBA trainer Michael Nolan has won plenty of big races on the Darling Downs but he will tomorrow launch his first tilt at a Roma Cup victory.

Nolan will saddle up a runner at Roma's Bassett Park for the first time tomorrow when Blow A Kiss lines up in the $50,000 XXXX Gold Roma Cup (1640m).

Blow A Kiss came close to claiming a country cup earlier this spring when second to Zed Horse in last month's Warwick Cup and then went on to run a tough third at Eagle Farm a fortnight ago.

That run and the prize money on offer in the Roma Cup prompted Nolan to head west with his gelding.

Nolan says Blow A Kiss has been in good form but knows it will be a hard-fought race, especially as the six-year-old will jump from barrier 11 with Adam Best on board.

Also in the Roma Cup field are defending winner Dancefloor Prodigy for home-town trainer Craig Smith and Toowoomba Cup winner Musashi of Mieko. …
