On-Off Event Is Back on Again

DISAPPOINTMENT has turned to joy for Tyne Bridge Harriers with English Road Running's Six-Stage Road Relays back on the agenda again.

After pulling out all the stops in Leigh 10 days ago to qualify by finishing in the top 25, the Newcastle-based club were rocked when they heard the final in Sutton Park had been cancelled due to an outbreak of e-coli in the park.

However, crestfallen Tyne Bridge have been given a reprieve with the fixture now back on again, albeit at a different venue.

The organisers have managed to find an interesting scenic course set in 4,000 acres of Clumber Park in Nottinghamshire, which is a huge boost for everyone concerned.

It's Tyne Bridge's debut in the event and to miss out on a technicality would have left the club crestfallen.

But everything is rosy once again and the fledgling Newcastle outfit is looking forward to taking its place among the country's leading road running outfits.

"We are over the moon to be going to the National Relays and we must thank the ERRA for pulling out all the stops to see that the championships go ahead," said Tyne Bridge spokesman David Moir. …
