PUT away the Bible and pull out your smart phone.

That's the message from Kawana Life Baptist Church Pastor Dony Johnson who has revealed that more than half his congregation is using technology to follow his readings during service.

Tablets, iPhones and iPads are becoming the norm in churches across the country as religions embrace the power technology can provide.

aAs far as the church is concerned, it's all about moving forward in an organic fashion and moving with the times,a Pastor Johnson said.

aThere are some great applications available regarding copies of the Bible.

aAnd it's not just my congregation a I regularly use my iPad to deliver the readings because it allows me to pull up multiple pages to reference.a

And the applications aren't solely reserved to church on Sunday with the smart devices allowing people to access passages from the Bible at any time.
