DEPUTY CHIEF'S HEARING DELAYED; Appeal Success Puts Case on Hold

A DISCIPLINARY hearing against Cleveland Police's Deputy Chief Constable Derek Bonnard has been delayed after a successful High Court appeal.

The hearing, which relates to seven allegations of gross misconduct, was to start today and was expected to last up to three weeks. But Mr Bonnard's legal team appealed to the High Court last week for a judicial review and confirmed today that the hearing will now be adjourned to a later date.

The disciplinary hearing, which will be held in private, comes after a managed investigation carried out by the Independent Police Complaints Commission following a referral from Cleveland Police Authority in August 2011.

One matter of potential gross misconduct has been deferred pending the outcome of the wider criminal investigation ongoing by Operation Sacristy.
