MPs' Landlords Revealed despite Bercow Protest

RECORDS revealing details about who MPs rent their taxpayer-funded homes from were released yesterday despite warnings from Commons Speaker John Bercow that it would cause a "security risk".

The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (Ipsa) published a list of the landlords and agents of the 320 MPs claiming rental expenses last month.

It shows a number of MPs rent their properties from fellow MPs or peers. Labour MP Jessica Morden (Newport East) rents from Madeleine Moon (Bridgend) while Conservative Keith Simpson rents from Lord Flight.

The publication of the information will anger many MPs, who argued in the Commons it could be used maliciously. Mr Bercow wrote to Ipsa claiming there was a "very real danger" residential addresses could be discovered as a result of the details being released.

On publication yesterday Ipsa said it had withheld some details from the records where an MP or landlord had shown the information could lead to their address being identified. …
