ORMESBY A maintained their lead at the top of the first division of the Middlesbrough and District Table Tennis League when they visited Brotton B and won by 9-1. Hat-tricks for Ormesby were scored by Michael Boyce and Ryan Richardson while Paul Flanagan scored Brotton's sole win, beating Gary Whyman 11-9 in the decider.

The match was closer than the scoreline suggests as Whyman beat Colin Charity 12-10 in the fifth whilst Boyce beat Flanagan 11-9 in the decider.

A doubles win for Whyman and Boyce was also by a narrow margin at 11-8 in the decider against Charity and Flanagan. The closest match of the week was a 5-5 draw between Ormesby D and Tees Trains Nomads B. Josh Harland was the star of the match for Ormesby, scoring a hat-trick whilst Calum White won two. John Lawton was the best Trains player, winning two of his sets, whilst Peter Docherty and Malcolm Noble won one each. …
