Can You Make a Wish for Rhinos?

YOUNG footballers with disabilities need your help to keep their club afloat.

The Walbottle Rhinos, who play in the Ability League, are in with a chance of taking a share of PS35,000 in the Evening Chronicle's Wish Campaign.

They are one of 200 organisations registered with the campaign this year and hope the cash will keep players on the pitch.

Coach David Milne, said: "The money helps to keep players coming back.

"We try to keep the subs as low as possible, but it costs PS118 a month just to train. Money from Wish goes towards the running costs, and in the past it has been very helpful."

Eleven young men aged between 14 and 29 currently play for the team and for many, their weekly games at Walbottle Campus are their only chance to play competitive sport.

"They mostly have learning difficulties, and it's a club where they can make new friends and a lot socialise outside the club too," said David, of West Denton, Newcastle. …
