Cisse on Target - but Not Enough; Pardew Is Disappointed

Manchester United 2 Newcastle United 1 ALAN Pardew left Old Trafford disappointed last night after seeing his side go out of the Capital One Cup - but only just.

The Magpies were trailing 2-0 to Manchester United when striker Papiss Cisse was introduced as a 61st-minute susbstitute.

But the Senegalese hitman scored his first Newcastle goal of the season and had the best of a number of chances to equalise.

"I'm disappointed for the club that we haven't come away with a result because I thought we were terrific," said Pardew afterwards.

"Some of the individual performances were top-drawer and we've created nine, ten good chances. We deserved more than the one goal.

"We haven't won here for 40 years (against Manchester United) and that was probably as good a go as we've had. We'll look forward to when we come here again."

As well as heading in Newcastle's goal, Cisse also hit the crossbar with an overhead bicycle kick. …
